Dako College of Nursing & Midwifery Sciences, established in Suleja, Nigeria, was founded in 2019 to assist the less privileged and provide education in health-related fields.
The foundation, led by Dako Kpatunshako, sought to reduce competition among indigenous students seeking admission into government nursing colleges. After consulting with various stakeholders, the foundation received approval from all agencies and departments to establish the college. The college is currently running Basic Nursing Sciences for three years and Basic Mid-wifery courses for three years. The college aims to provide opportunities for students to become academic staff or graduate with Nursing Mid-wifery knowledge, enabling them to establish their own businesses or work in public or private clinics and hospitals. The foundation is grateful to Allah for the wisdom and positive thinking that has led to its success.
Nursing and Midwifery play a crucial role in health care, focusing on individual, family, and community health. The curriculum for nursing and midwifery education has evolved to meet the demands of a rapidly changing society. This includes new courses like Nursing Informatics, Home Health Care Nursing, Quality Improvement, and Patients’ Safety.
The General Nursing and Midwifery Education program aims to develop sound educational principles for nurses, preparing them for independent and interdisciplinary roles. Active participation in Certified Health Training institutions is essential for students’ academic and clinical experience.
Beyond the classroom, they participate in simulations, hospital rotations, and community health programs, gaining real-world experience.
